About the Role
Anchor Capital Mauritius (part of Anchor Group (Pty) Ltd www.anchorcapital.co.za) is entering a significant growth and institutionalisation phase and requires an accomplished, strategically minded Director of Finance & Operations to lead the financial, operational, and governance framework of the Mauritian entity.
This executive role carries full accountability for building a best‑in‑class financial services platform, driving operational excellence, and ensuring the organisation meets the highest standards of governance, regulatory substance, and cross‑border compliance.
The ideal candidate brings board‑level gravitas, deep financial services expertise, a transformation mindset, and the ability to balance high‑level strategic leadership with decisive, hands‑on execution when required.
You will be the executive responsible for:
- Strengthening governance and internal controls
- Designing scalable operational infrastructure
- Leading finance, operations, and regulatory oversight
- Driving automation and efficiency
- Supporting group expansion, new entities, and cross‑border structuring
- Ensuring full financial, regulatory, and operational substance
This is a mission‑critical leadership appointment with direct impact on the continued growth and credibility of Anchor Capital Mauritius.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Financial Leadership & Reporting
- Lead the full finance function, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting.
- Oversee strategic financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, liquidity and cash‑flow management.
- Ensure complete reconciliation and financial accuracy across:
- Management fee income
- Custodian and trading transactions
- Payments and collections
- Entity‑level books and group reporting
- Present financial insights and strategic recommendations to the Group CFO, Managing Director, and executive stakeholders.
Operational Strategy & Organisational Effectiveness
- Design, implement, and optimise operational systems, controls, and workflows to support scale and efficiency.
- Lead automation initiatives to transform manual processes and enhance data accuracy.
- Ensure robust operational controls with zero gaps in financial or compliance processes.
- Oversee collaboration with the management company, ensuring accurate administration, structuring, and regulatory submissions.
- Drive the successful setup of new entities, shared services, and operational expansion across multiple jurisdictions.
Regulatory, Compliance & Governance Oversight
- Oversee all regulatory submissions to the FSC and relevant authorities, ensuring full accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain comprehensive compliance logs, governance records, substance documentation, and regulatory registers.
- Ensure full adherence to substance requirements for a licensed Mauritius financial services entity.
- Maintain board‑ready statutory records, governance packs, and director documentation.
Leadership, People Development & Culture Building
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance and operations teams to build a strong culture of excellence and accountability.
- Implement clear KPIs, performance structures, and resource plans.
- Identify skills gaps and build high‑performing teams aligned with the organisation’s growth trajectory.
- Foster a proactive, high‑ownership, solutions‑driven internal culture.
Strategic Stakeholder Engagement & Cross‑Border Collaboration
- Serve as a key strategic partner to the Mauritius Managing Director, Group CFO, and broader leadership teams.
- Work closely with:
- Trading & execution teams
- Investment teams
- SA compliance, operations, and finance teams
- External auditors, regulators, administrators, and corporate service providers
- Ensure alignment, transparency, and seamless flow of information across jurisdictions.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Fully qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- 10–15+ years senior experience in financial services, asset management, banking, or related sectors.
Technical Expertise
- Strong command of financial reporting, accounting standards, governance, and tax for cross‑border entities.
- Experience leading operations in a regulated environment.
- Strong advantage: fund operations, portfolio administration, or multi‑jurisdictional structures.
- Proven ability to design, automate, and scale operational frameworks.
- Strong understanding of audit processes, regulator expectations, and corporate governance frameworks.
